Its 10 years now but still going strong, he deserve to lead the national team for his in & out day after day contribution to change the face of India Cricket, Rahul Dravid.
Could have easily started his career with an entry in the record book with a debut century at test in Lords but rather preferred to enter Cricket fans heart by walking off for caught behind appeal at 95 for which Umpire hasn’t raised his finger, incident easily speaks the character of the man.

Nicknamed as wall for wasting the deliveries and unable to rotate the strike later became a compliment for constructing the Indian team & bringing laurels to the nation.

Out shadowed earlier in his career where other greats of Indian cricket played with namely Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly and Anil Kumble, made a mark of his own to be the highest average holder among the current International players. Took over the captaincy from Saurav in late 2005 and started making records in the shortened version of the game as well. Under him India made 16 consecutive chases to make the world record for the longest streak of chases only to be interrupted by 1 run defeat to West Indies [Actually India holds the record for 18 consecutive victories in chasing but 2 of them were under Ganguly].

Sets a new dimension in leading from the front, scored two crucial half centuries against West Indies on a track where match got over in less than 3 days with opponent getting out for less than 100. Only the 2nd Indian captain to win a series in West Indies. Highest average holder among the current players.

He is simply the most influential player in the team can groom youngster and motivate experienced players.
He is an asset to Cricket in General rather than Indian cricket alone.
