I don't want to reveal the methods here, because many of them still work even though Admin closed some of the loopholes that allowed one to add points to their own blog.

Some bloggers (who know who they are) were cheating the system, their blogs were pretty awful, consisting mostly of email forwards and other mundane crappola like that, they were getting few if any comments on their threads, yet their blogsites shot up the top ten list like they were the most well written, well read, and popular bloggers in history.

I posted a couple of test articles to demonstrate to admin how easily this could be done, and just john took that demonstration a step further, actually causing his blog to rise up the list. He made it clear to admin that this was what he was doing, same as I did, yet they chose to discipline him for some reason, first confining him to his own blog and then stripping his points down to the minus-thousands range.

I have no idea why they treated him so harshly, and repeated queries have gone unanswered.

Nickname : Cactoblasta or Cacto
Years in JU: nearly 2 I think/
Articles: 52
Referrals: Some
Most successful article: for some reason a blog I posted about Apple Pages is my top one despite only having a few responses, but one with lots of responses was called "Islam - global monster or global scapegoat", posted way back in 2004.
JU favourites: I've always been a big fan of Tex, kingbee, Myrrander and Chakgoka, but I'd have a chilled beverage with nearly all of the regulars.
Highest ranking: I think I'm in the top 100 for bloggers, but I'm way too lazy to write many articles - I had a look see and my blog's at around 32,000. I write maybe one or two articles max in a month, so that figure ain't going to change anytime soon.

If I write a blog it will be because something I've read has motivated me to do so. The motivation will probably be from this site, but sometimes outside stuff gives me inspiration.

It has been long enough. The issue has more to do with the SQL back end of the forums. I simply exploited the double post.

Have you ever clicked the submit button in the forums twice? You end up with a double post. If you click it several hundred times you get my result. I chose to make an article private and give myself 1700 or so submits at 5pts each.

I have no idea why they treated him so harshly, and repeated queries have gone unanswered.

I really don't care. It sucked at first but you only did this a few times to prove
a point. I was trying to prove that without the knowledge of the community at large I could rise to the top 10 in a day. Had I not made that article public again, only the admins could have figured out what I did.

Sadly this is a flaw that I don't think is easily fixed. It would require inspection of comments based on similarity and frequency and then deletion of said comments automatically. I am sure that eventually this would become an issue for valid submissions at some point. It seems like it would be easier and better for the community to trust people.
